Phyllis Yale and Dr. Bijan Salehizadeh Join Board of Directors; John Doyle, Aaron McKethan, and Nick Kinkaid Join C-Suite Amid A Year Of Tremendous Success

Bethesda, Md. – September 14, 2021 – Aledade today announced that Phyllis Yale and Dr. Bijan Salehizadeh have joined its Board of Directors to provide strategic, business, and industry insight. Aledade is also proud to announce the additions of three new hires to its leadership team: John Doyle, former Chief Executive Officer at Castlight Health, joins as Chief Financial Officer; Nick Kinkaid, former Commerce User Experience Lead at Google, joins as Chief Product Officer; and Aaron McKethan, former Co-Founder and CEO at NoviSci, joins as General Manager of New Ventures.

Phyllis Yale brings decades of experience in health care management consulting and currently serves as an advisory partner at Bain & Company, where she led the health care practice for over 30 years. At Bain, Phyllis advises providers across the continuum of care, health plans, health IT and services companies, as well as the financial sponsors that invest in those areas. Phyllis serves on the boards of DaVita, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Previously she chaired the board of Kindred Healthcare and BCBSMA, and has served on the boards of a number of other public and private healthcare organizations. Phyllis also sits on the advisory boards for the HBS Healthcare Initiative and the Executive Council for the Department of Health Policy and Management of the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.

“Transforming the US healthcare system requires that we shift from fee-for-service incentives to fee-for-value,” said Phyllis Yale. “Through my board work as well as my advisory work at Bain, I have seen both the progress in this journey, as well as the huge gaps in capabilities that remain. I am thrilled to join the board of Aledade, which is playing a critical role in allowing physician groups to remain independent, while participating in the transformation of how they are paid and how they practice.”

Dr. Bijan Salehizadeh joins the Aledade Board as an independent director after serving as an advisor to the Company since its founding. Bijan is the co-founder of NaviMed Capital where he serves on the firm’s Investment Committee leading investments with a particular focus on health care providers and pharmaceutical services. He serves on Aledade’s board in a personal capacity, not representing NaviMed Capital. A physician with over 20 years of experience in health care operations and investing, he currently serves on multiple private and public company boards.

“Having worked with many growing healthcare companies, I am drawn to Aledade’s unique mission of serving primary care practices and their patients while providing the tools to enable high-value care,” said Dr. Salehizadeh.

Building out its leadership team of industry veterans, Aledade added three key members with deep experience in scaling health care businesses to its ranks. The new team members will use their expertise to expand Aledade’s model to new markets and improve Aledade’s internal systems and processes.

  • John Doyle brings more than 20 years of experience in senior executive roles in fast-growing businesses, both public and private, in the health care space. He most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer at Castlight Health, a leading care navigation company, and has held public market CFO or board roles at Castlight Health, Achaogen, and Renovis. He currently serves as a board member of AltruBio, a clinical stage biotechnology company.
  • Nick Kinkaid joins the Aledade team after building digital products for Tesla, Google, Walmart and Best Buy. Nick’s focus has been on first principles product development from incubation to scale, most notably Tesla’s direct-to-consumer online sales and delivery experience.
  • Aaron McKethan joins as a health care entrepreneur and former state and federal policy official. He was formerly co-founder and CEO at NoviSci, a healthcare data science company, and co-founder of RxAnte, a predictive analytics and clinical services company. Aaron brings industry, government, and academic experience, and currently serves on the teaching faculty at the Duke School of Medicine.

“At this moment in Aledade’s development, I couldn’t imagine better additions to our Board of Directors than Phyllis and Bijan, and John, Nick, and Aaron will solidify our exceptional leadership team with their deep expertise in areas that are critical to the next phase of our growth,” said Farzad Mostashari, co-founder and CEO of Aledade. “I am proud of the team at Aledade and excited about all of the great people we’ve added this year to continue the expansion of Aledade’s value-based care model across the country.”

Aledade’s ACO network now covers over 1.15 million patient lives across 90 value-based contracts in 32 states with more than 800 participating practices. Aledade’s ACOs have created nearly $830 million in total savings across the health care system over the past seven years, with more than half of those savings earned in 2020 alone. The company also recently announced that physicians participating in its model would receive $120 million in direct shared savings payments for their performance last year. Through its successful model, Aledade is able to help independent practices better manage their participation in risk- and incentive-based programs that better align payers and providers to create improved patient outcomes at a lower overall cost to the system.
