Congress may be on their August recess, but we have some eCQM updates and deadlines for you, 2024 Proposed Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) resources, and some advocacy opportunities for September.
Changes are coming to MSSP: 75% of MSSP ACO NPIs must use a 2015 Edition CEHRT with a Cures Act Update to remain in compliance with updated program requirements for PY2023.
- The deadline for upgrading is October 1, 2023.
- Aledade member practices:
- A survey from firstname.lastname@example.org was sent to your practice on August 2.
- If you have questions about CEHRT requirements, Aledade hosts Office Hours every other Tuesday, 12:00 p.m.-12:30 p.m. ET. Contact Alyssa Brown for more info (email@example.com).
ICYMI: 2024 Proposed Physician Fee Schedule Resources
As we work on our comments to CMS on the 2024 Proposed PFS, here are some resources if you want to catch up:
- Webinar on Aledade’s analysis of the reg hosted by Travis Broome, SVP of Policy & Economics
- Detailed blog summarizing our analysis
You might also have heard about some physician specialty groups lobbying against G2211 (previously GPC1X), the visit complexity code inherently associated with primary care reported in conjunction with E&M visits to better account for additional resources associated with primary care. CMS proposed this code in the calendar year 2021 rule, but due to a moratorium from Congress (that will run out in 2024), the code has not been payable. In this year’s proposed rule, CMS is proposing to implement it for 2024. Aledade will be supporting implementation of G2211 in our comments to CMS.
Aledade Hill Day and Advocacy Training Opportunities
Aledade member practices: We will be hosting our annual Hill Day with opportunities to meet with your Congressional representative either in person in DC or virtually. Our in-person day will be held on Wednesday, September 20, in conjunction with NAACOS’ advocacy activities and conference, and virtual meetings can take place throughout the month of September. If you are interested in a meeting, the Policy team will coordinate it for you and attend either in person or virtually.
You can let us know you are interested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. No policy experience or extensive prep work required – our main ask of you is to tell your story of practicing independent primary care in your community. We will have a few specific requests for the legislators and some materials we’ll provide the staff around legislation or opportunities to advance value-based and accountable care.
Save the Date: Advocacy Training Webinar
Aledade member practices are invited to join us on Friday, September 8, at noon ET for a 30-minute training session on how to improve and refine your advocacy skills. We will talk about our federal legislative priorities heading into the fall; opportunities to meet with legislators both through our federal Hill Day in DC and virtually as well as opportunities throughout the year to engage with your local legislators through our State Policy Committees; and you will hear from an experienced physician advocate. Registration link to come.
State Policy Corner
July saw the successful launch of Aledade’s 11th state policy chapter in Pennsylvania! Interest in health care reform is strong in the Keystone State and our physicians are gearing up to advocate for all the good that primary care does. The state’s General Assembly meets for the entire calendar year so there will be plenty of bills to track, committee hearings to watch, and conversations to be had. We anticipate a strong group of advocates engaging with legislators, officials, and leaders in Harrisburg and encourage any current Aledade ACO member in a Pennsylvania-based private practice or CHC to participate if you are interested. Please reach out to Will London (email@example.com) for more information. We’re looking forward to Aledade and primary care’s future successes in the Commonwealth!
