Resolving Inequities in MSSP’s Benchmarking Methodology

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services measures value in the Medicare Shared Savings Program using a total cost of care financial benchmark. Accountable care organizations serving regions with an aging or underserved population face greater challenges under CMS' current benchmarking methodology. A recent Milliman report looked at alternative benchmarking methodologies that could mitigate these challenges.
