Aledade, Emtiro Health Partner to Create Independent Primary Care Physician-Led ACO in North Carolina

November 25, 2020

Greensboro, NC — Today, Maryland-based Aledade, Inc. and North Carolina-based Emtiro Health, LLC announced they are forming a new partnership to support independent providers in the North Carolina Foothills and Greater Piedmont-Triad area under Aledade’s newly formed, physician-led Accountable Care Organization (ACO). The Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) ACO benefits North Carolina physicians and their patients by offering a model that rewards doctors for improving quality of care and patient health outcomes, while lowering costs.

“Aledade believes primary care physicians are uniquely positioned to lead the way and succeed in the new value-based health care system. In a short time, we have come to know and appreciate Emtiro’s strength in practice transformation and care coordination, both critical factors in the evolution towards value-based models,” said Dan Bowles, Regional Vice President for Provider Networks at Aledade. “We are excited to partner with a local leader in Emtiro Health as we continue to expand our work in the state.”

“Emtiro Health is excited to partner with Aledade to support independent providers in North Carolina. Emtiro’s expertise in practice transformation and care management coupled with Aledade’s leadership in value-based care and innovative technology platform will provide comprehensive support to providers,” said Kelly Garrison, President and CEO of Emtiro Health. “This partnership is a stepping stone for additional opportunities as North Carolina moves quickly towards incentivizing providers to provide high quality care. The partnership between Emtiro and Aledade will allow providers to focus on building strong relationships with their patients while providing high-quality care in a value-based payment environment.”

A national leader in value-based care, Aledade offers a new model of primary care by partnering with physicians to build and lead ACOs that allow doctors to stay independent, practice medicine like they’ve always wanted to, and thrive financially by keeping people healthy. Aledade ACOs focus on delivering the highest-quality care to patients, with an emphasis on preventive care, care coordination, population health management, and unparalleled analysis of patient claims and electronic health record data to identify patients who need help before serious medical problems arise.

Emtiro Health supports providers along their journey toward practice transformation to succeed in a value-based payment environment. Emtiro’s staff bring diverse backgrounds and skillsets to complement a comprehensive approach, with experts in practice management and optimization, data analytics and quality reporting, and integration of services, such as clinical pharmacy and behavioral health. Emtiro Health partners directly with physicians and their practices to provide whole-person centered care coordination and care management services, ensuring that patients are connected with the right care at the right time and have direct support navigating the health care system.

Aledade and Emtiro Health will recruit a core group of primary care practices to lead the ACO. Initial recruitment will focus on the North Carolina Foothills and Greater Piedmont-Triad area, with the potential to expand to other parts of the state. The North Carolina-based ACO will launch in January 2019.

Emtiro Health will serve as primary contact for physician offices and assist in transforming practices to improve quality of care and generate shared savings. Emtiro Health will provide the “boots on the ground” assistance developing systems and work flows that will ensure providers are able to reap the benefits from participation in a shared savings program and will provide direct support to providers through care coordination and care management for patients attributed to the ACO.

In this partnership, Aledade offers physicians unparalleled regulatory expertise; cutting-edge technology and data analytics that provide visibility into the spectrum of care their patients receive outside their office; and practice transformation support. In addition, Aledade brings North Carolina physicians best practices and insights from its national network of primary care physicians.

The ACO will establish quality benchmarks and a governing board to develop and share best practices for patient outreach, engagement, and treatment.

About Aledade
Founded in 2014, Aledade offers a new model of primary care that puts physicians back where they should be: quarterbacking their patients’ health care. Aledade partners with primary care physicians to build and lead Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) that allow these doctors to stay independent, practice medicine like they’ve always wanted to, and thrive financially by keeping people healthy. Aledade provides data analytics and user-friendly technology to help doctors provide more seamless care, unparalleled regulatory expertise, best practices developed with and shared by a national network of physicians, and face-to-face practice transformation support. Aledade has established successful ACOs that care for more than 360,000 patients in Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia, and has expanded to three new states – Ohio, Kentucky, and New Jersey – in 2018.

At the heart of the Aledade model is the simple, but radical, idea that Aledade only succeeds when partner practices succeed in delivering better care at a lower cost. For more information, visit aledade.com.
